Get driving license from home as Punjab launches new online service
The Punjab government has connected the Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS) with the Dastak application. The step is designed to save people from unnecessary visits to government offices.
According to Punjab Traffic Police, citizens can now access various driving license services through the Dastak app. The platform allows users to apply for a learner driving license without leaving their homes.
People can also renew their existing driving licenses through the mobile application. The online process is expected to reduce waiting times and improve convenience.
Officials said citizens whose licenses are lost or damaged can also apply for duplicate licenses online. This means many common licensing services can now be completed digitally.
The new facility also benefits travelers planning to go abroad. Individuals can apply for an international driving license through the Dastak app as well.
Punjab Traffic Police said the learner driving license fee has been fixed at Rs500 per category. Renewal and duplicate license charges will be collected according to official rules and the relevant vehicle category.

The Dastak application can be downloaded easily from the Play Store. The app provides information and services for motorcycle, car, jeep, LTV and HTV license categories.
Authorities have advised citizens to contact the Punjab Traffic Police website or the relevant helpline for further guidance. Additional support is available for users who need help with the online process.
Experts believe the initiative is an important step toward promoting e-governance. They say it will help make public services more efficient and accessible for citizens.
The new system reduces the need for repeated visits to licensing offices. Online applications can save time and make services more convenient for the public. The move also reflects a growing shift toward digital government services in Punjab.
