Lahore launches crackdown on underage and unlicensed motorcyclists
According to Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, strict action will be taken against violators. Underage drivers will not only be fined but their motorcycles or vehicles will also be impounded at local police stations. The move is part of a broader effort to discourage unsafe driving practices.
Officials stated that driving with a learner’s permit or an expired license will result in fines of up to Rs. 5,000 for cars and Rs. 2,000 for motorcycles. Additionally, action will be taken against triple riding on motorcycles, which remains a major safety concern in the city.
The CTO further emphasized that holders of regular car or motorcycle licenses are not permitted to operate commercial or public service vehicles. Drivers of buses and vans must possess a valid PSV (Public Service Vehicle) license, while operators of heavy vehicles such as trucks and trailers are required to hold an HTV (Heavy Transport Vehicle) license.

Despite the public holiday, all licensing offices across Lahore will remain open, and special checkpoints will be set up outside these centers. Traffic officers have been directed to personally supervise the crackdown to ensure strict implementation.
Authorities have also introduced online services for learner permits, duplicate licenses, and renewals, along with multiple testing and facilitation centers across the city.
Officials reiterated that underage and unlicensed driving will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
