(Web Desk): Gas supply will remain suspended for 48 hours across Pakistan for industries and the CNG sectors to manage and stabilize supply for domestic consumers.

Pakistan is set to face a 48-hour gas suspension for the industrial and CNG sectors as authorities move to manage soaring winter gas demand and stabilize supply for domestic consumers.

According to a spokesperson for Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), gas supply to industries, captive power plants, and CNG stations will be suspended starting 8:00 am on Saturday, January 24, and will resume at 8:00 am on Monday.

The decision has been taken to ensure better gas pressure for domestic and commercial users, who face severe shortages during peak winter months due to increased consumption.

Officials explained that industrial gas suspension is a recurring winter strategy, allowing gas utilities to divert limited supplies toward households where demand spikes sharply due to heating and cooking needs.

It is worth noting that domestic and commercial consumers already face scheduled gas outages, with supply cut daily from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am under the winter gas load management plan.

This is not the first such move this season. SSGC recently imposed similar restrictions, temporarily halting gas supply to industries and the CNG sector to maintain household gas availability amid ongoing shortages.

Authorities have urged affected sectors to make alternative arrangements during the shutdown period, while assuring consumers that such measures are essential to maintain system stability during winter.
