FESCO bans bill corrections for Protected Consumers exceeding 200 units
FESCO has banned the correction of bills for protected-category consumers who exceed the 200-unit limit, even by a single unit.
Under the revised instructions, no corrections will be made to a protected consumer's bill if recorded usage exceeds the threshold by even one unit.
FESCO officials have directed strict implementation of the updated billing policy and warned that action will be taken against staff found responsible for negligence or errors in the billing process.

The company confirmed the policy is now being strictly implemented across all its billing operations.
Protected consumers are those who use up to 200 units of electricity monthly for six consecutive months and receive heavily subsidized rates, while unprotected consumers use above that threshold or have inconsistent usage patterns.
Crossing 200 units in any month shifts the entire bill from the subsidized slab to the much higher unprotected rate.
Under the new policy, a consumer's protected status will be terminated if usage exceeds the 200-unit limit even once within a six-month period, after which they will be billed under the regular tariff.
FESCO has instructed all relevant officers and staff to ensure full compliance, emphasizing that no exceptions will be made to the limit.
