Fake pregnancy case in Karachi hospital takes shocking turn
Woman makes shocking admission
Police said the woman told investigators that she had suffered a miscarriage after getting married in 2024.
According to officials, she later came under pressure and started presenting herself as pregnant. She visited different hospitals and had ultrasound scans but reportedly did not properly consult doctors about the results.
The Karachi newborn case came to light after the woman’s family claimed that a baby had disappeared due to negligence by hospital staff.
However, hospital officials said the woman had not actually been pregnant.
Medical report finds no pregnancy
Police said a medical examination and medico-legal report found no evidence that the woman had been pregnant.
Investigators also examined an ultrasound report shown by the woman on her mobile phone. Police said the document was later found to be unauthenticated.
The Karachi hospital staff had reportedly relied on the report while treating the woman.
This has raised serious questions about medical checks at the Nazimabad hospital and why further tests were not carried out before the procedure.
Doctor gives statement
The doctor involved in the case told police that no baby was found during the operation.
The doctor reportedly said the woman arrived as an emergency patient and claimed she was receiving regular treatment at another hospital.
Investigators are now trying to determine why the woman was taken to the operating theatre without confirmed evidence of pregnancy.
