The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved an electric bus service and a new general hospital for Peshawar under the Annual Development Programme ADP 2026-27.

The decisions were taken during a consultative meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi at Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad. The session was attended by senators, MNAs and MPAs from the Peshawar region to finalize development priorities.

Under the plan, a zero-emission electric bus service will operate on the busy Peshawar Ring Road. The project aims to provide modern and environment-friendly transport, reduce carbon emissions and improve daily commuting for thousands of residents.

The chief minister directed that the electric bus project be formally included in the upcoming ADP. Officials say the initiative reflects the province’s shift toward sustainable urban mobility.

In addition, a state-of-the-art general hospital has been approved to meet the growing healthcare needs of Peshawar’s expanding population. The project will be executed on a fast-track basis with emphasis on quality and timely completion.

Lawmakers have been asked to submit constituency-based development proposals to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat by March 15 for consideration in the new development cycle.

The government also approved a feasibility study for a second Ring Road to ease traffic congestion and support future urban expansion.

Officials described the initiatives as a major step toward modern transport, improved healthcare and long-term infrastructure planning in the provincial capital.
