(Web Desk): Operation Ghazab Lil Haq launched as Pakistan claims 72 militants killed in sweeping response along Afghan border.

Operation Ghazab Lil Haq has been launched by Pakistan following what officials described as unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime along the Pak-Afghan border, with 72 militants reported killed and more than 120 injured in retaliatory strikes.

Security sources said 16 Taliban posts were completely destroyed, while seven were captured by Pakistani forces. Multiple sectors including Bajaur, Kurram, Mohmand, Khyber, Chitral and South Waziristan witnessed intense exchanges.

The Pakistan Air Force carried out strikes inside Afghanistan, targeting an ammunition depot in Nangarhar along with three battalion positions and a Taliban headquarters. Reports also suggested air raids near Kabul and Kandahar.

Officials claimed over 30 tanks, artillery guns and armored personnel carriers were destroyed. Drones and heavy weapons were used to hit selected positions after alleged quadcopter attacks on Pakistani check posts were foiled.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan would continue to give a “strong and effective response” to any border violations, rejecting what he termed false propaganda on social media.

Authorities confirmed that two Pakistani soldiers were martyred and three injured during the fighting.

Officials reiterated that while Pakistan seeks regional peace, it will take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
