(Web Desk): Pakistan and Muslims around the world are preparing for Eid-ul-Adha 2026, with citizens eager to learn about the expected holiday schedule so they can plan travel and celebrations in advance.

According to early estimates, people in Pakistan may enjoy a four to five-day holiday period. However, the final dates will depend on the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon.

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad has announced that the moon sighting committee will meet on 17 May to observe the new moon of Zul-Hijjah.

If the moon is sighted on 17 May, Eid-ul-Adha is likely to fall between 27 and 29 May (Wednesday to Friday). With the addition of the weekend, the holiday period could extend until 31 May, giving citizens a possible five-day break.

On the other hand, if the month of Zul-Hijjah completes 30 days, Eid is expected to be observed on 28 and 29 May (Thursday and Friday). In this case, including the weekend, the holidays would last for around four days.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” is one of the most important religious occasions for Muslims. Families usually travel to their hometowns, perform animal sacrifice, and distribute meat among relatives and the needy.

Authorities are expected to issue an official holiday notification closer to the moon sighting date.
