Eid Milad un Nabi security tightened across Pakistan as rallies begin

Pakistan has put extensive security arrangements in place for Eid Miladun Nabi celebrations across the country, with police and other agencies placed on high alert.

The measures cover religious gatherings, rallies and processions being held on 12th Rabiul Awwal, with authorities focusing on public safety and peaceful celebrations.

Security plans include large-scale police deployments, surveillance through cameras, traffic management and monitoring of procession routes.

Authorities in major cities have also coordinated with religious organisers and local administrations to reduce security risks and ensure that events proceed smoothly.

The federal government has declared 12th Rabiul Awwal, corresponding to August 26, 2026, a public holiday across Pakistan.

Punjab deploys more than 55,000 personnel

Punjab has announced one of the country’s largest security deployments for Eid Miladun Nabi.

Punjab Police said more than 55,000 officers and personnel would provide security for 1,436 Milad gatherings and 2,479 processions across the province.

In Lahore alone, 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings are scheduled, with more than 8,000 police personnel, officers and volunteers assigned to security duties.

The Counter Terrorism Department will also monitor major gatherings, while regional and district police officers will supervise arrangements in their respective areas.

Safe City cameras are being used to monitor processions and gatherings, while additional personnel have been ordered at sensitive locations.

Punjab authorities have also directed officials to follow standard operating procedures and maintain a high level of alert throughout the celebrations.

Islamabad places more than 3,000 officers on duty

Islamabad Police has also finalised a comprehensive security plan for Eid Miladun Nabi.

More than 3,000 police officers and officials are being deployed to protect mosques, religious gatherings and processions across the capital.

Specialised units, including SWAT and Delta Force commandos, Counter Terrorism Department officials, Capital Patrol Unit personnel, female commandos and plainclothes officers are taking part in the security arrangements.

Police teams will patrol different areas under the supervision of senior officers.

Authorities have also reviewed procession routes, entry and exit points, parking arrangements and traffic movement to reduce disruptions during the celebrations.

Participants have been directed to use designated entry points, where security checks will be carried out.

Karachi prepares for major Milad rallies

In Karachi, police have deployed 4,208 personnel to secure Milad rallies and gatherings across the city.

According to the Karachi police plan, 1,702 personnel will be deployed in the South Zone and 765 in the East Zone.

At Nishtar Park, where the main 12th Rabiul Awwal procession is scheduled to conclude, 397 police officers and personnel will provide security.

Another 362 personnel will be deployed at entry points to the park.

Karachi Police has directed officers to remain fully alert along procession routes.

Traffic police will also manage vehicle movement, while CCTV cameras will be used to monitor the security situation.

The arrangements are intended to protect participants while allowing religious activities to continue without major disruption.

Security measures extend beyond major cities

Security preparations are not limited to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Authorities in Rawalpindi and other parts of Punjab have been instructed to maintain high alert until all processions and gatherings finish.

Punjab officials have ordered monitoring of individuals linked to banned organisations and other potential security risks.

Bomb disposal squads and fire brigades have also been instructed to remain operational and maintain communication with district control rooms.

Hospitals, Rescue 1122 services, ambulances and emergency facilities have been placed on alert in areas where large gatherings are expected.

Officials have also stressed traffic management, drinking water arrangements and the availability of essential medical staff and supplies.

These measures are intended to ensure that emergency services can respond quickly if an incident occurs.

Balochistan and other regions remain alert

Security agencies in Balochistan have also made arrangements for major Eid Milad events.

The Associated Press of Pakistan reported that around 4,000 personnel from police, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Constabulary were deployed across Quetta during the celebrations.

The main procession in Quetta was monitored through Safe City cameras as participants gathered for the religious event.

Other cities and districts have also prepared local security and traffic plans based on the size and routes of planned processions.

The focus remains on protecting worshippers, controlling crowds and preventing any disruption during the religious celebrations.

Local administrations have been coordinating with police, emergency services and procession organisers to address possible problems before events begin.

Organisers asked to cooperate with authorities
