Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday announced across Pakistan
The federal government has officially declared Wednesday, August 26, 2026, a public holiday across Pakistan on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, according to an official notification.
The Cabinet Division issued the notification on August 21, confirming the holiday on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH.
Holiday applies nationwide
The notification states that the Prime Minister has approved the declaration of August 26 as a public holiday in continuation of the Cabinet Division’s earlier circular on public and optional holidays for 2026.

Government offices and institutions will observe the holiday across the country.
The decision will also allow citizens to participate in religious gatherings and activities organised to mark the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Official notification issued
The notification was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat’s Cabinet Division and circulated to federal ministries, government departments and other relevant institutions.
Copies have also been forwarded to provincial chief secretaries, law enforcement authorities and several federal and provincial offices for information and necessary action.
The Cabinet Division directed that the notification be given wide publicity through major English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media.
Preparations expected nationwide
With the holiday officially announced, government departments, educational institutions and other organisations are expected to make arrangements according to the applicable holiday schedule.
Religious organisations and local administrations are also expected to finalise arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi gatherings, processions and other activities.
The announcement provides citizens with a clear schedule ahead of the religious occasion and confirms that August 26 will be observed as a nationwide public holiday.
