Child dies after stray dog bite in Lahore despite treatment
The child, identified as Muhammad Yaseen, died at Mayo Hospital despite receiving medical treatment after he was bitten by a stray dog about a month ago.
According to hospital sources, the child’s family ensured that he received timely anti-rabies vaccination. However, his condition deteriorated after he developed rabies.
Doctors admitted the boy to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and later placed him on a ventilator as his condition worsened. Despite their efforts, they were unable to save his life.

Hospital officials said this was the second rabies-related death reported at Mayo Hospital in recent days, raising concerns among health authorities.
Following the incident, residents urged the authorities to launch an effective campaign against stray dogs and strengthen preventive measures to protect people, especially children, from similar tragedies.
Health experts also advised the public to seek immediate medical treatment after any animal bite, stressing that timely medical care remains the most effective way to prevent rabies.
