Amjad Hussain takes oath as Gilgit-Baltistan CM after PPP election victory
Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administered the Amjad Hussain oath during a ceremony held in Gilgit.
The event was attended by senior political leaders, government officials and party workers. With the ceremony completed, Amjad Hussain officially assumed office as the new Gilgit-Baltistan CM.
Speaking after the Amjad Hussain oath, Amjad Hussain said PPP Gilgit-Baltistan emerged as the largest political party in the June 7 elections.
He thanked voters for giving the party a strong mandate and pledged that the Gilgit-Baltistan government would work to fulfill the expectations of the people.
The newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan CM praised the role of young voters and women, saying their participation helped PPP Gilgit-Baltistan secure victories across the region.
He added that public confidence in the party carries greater responsibility for the new Gilgit-Baltistan government.
Amjad Hussain said the relationship between the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and PPP Gilgit-Baltistan has continued for three generations.
He noted that the party achieved a historic victory in Diamer for the first time and described it as an important milestone.
The Gilgit-Baltistan CM also pointed out that the party received strong public support despite not leading the federal government.
According to Amjad Hussain, the election results showed that voters trusted PPP Gilgit-Baltistan to lead the region and strengthen the Gilgit-Baltistan government.
After taking the Amjad Hussain oath, he thanked the PPP leadership for its guidance and support throughout the election campaign.
He also appreciated the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership for allowing PPP Gilgit-Baltistan to form the Gilgit-Baltistan government.

Amjad Hussain became the Gilgit-Baltistan CM unopposed after no other candidate submitted nomination papers for the top office.
He is now the fifth chief minister of the region. Besides serving as Gilgit-Baltistan CM, he represents the GBA-1 constituency in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly and also leads PPP Gilgit-Baltistan as its provincial president.
The new Gilgit-Baltistan CM said his administration will focus on development, public welfare and fulfilling the promises made during the election campaign.
He assured the people that the Gilgit-Baltistan government would work with dedication to address their concerns and improve services across the region.
