9-year-old girl killed in Chakwal after CCD personnel mistake family car for robbers
According to police sources and family members, Adeel Ahmed, an Australian national originally from Dhudial village, had recently arrived in Pakistan with his wife Dr Sidra Khan, son Aafan Ahmed, and daughter Hania Ahmed.
The family had just returned from Saudi Arabia after performing Hajj and was spending time with relatives in Chakwal.
The incident took place late at night after the family attended a dinner hosted by Adeel’s father-in-law. As they stopped near a relative’s house, two armed robbers reportedly approached their vehicle and demanded cash and jewellery.
Family members said the suspects managed to take jewellery worth around Rs500,000 before being spotted by police officials.
Witnesses claimed a CCD operation Pakistan response began shortly afterward when officers attempted to stop the robbers.
Police officials said the suspects exchanged fire with officers before fleeing. During the confusion, Adeel drove away with his family to escape the dangerous situation.

However, authorities allegedly mistook the vehicle for that of the suspects, leading to further CCD personnel firing.
The family mistaken for robbers was then chased by officers on motorcycles. As bullets struck the vehicle, Adeel tried to reach safety but lost control of the car near his father-in-law’s residence and crashed into a gate.
The injured family members were immediately taken to hospital. Doctors declared Hania Ahmed dead on arrival, turning the incident into a heartbreaking Hania Ahmed case that has drawn widespread attention.

The Chakwal police shooting has also raised concerns about operational procedures during emergency responses.
Senior police officials later met the grieving family and promised a transparent investigation. A Joint Investigation Team has been formed to examine the Chakwal firing incident and determine whether negligence played a role.
