(Web Desk): Gas supply to industries and CNG stations across Sindh, including Karachi, will remain suspended for 48 hours to improve pressure for domestic users.

Authorities have announced a 48-hour suspension of gas supply to industries and CNG stations across Sindh, including Karachi, as part of efforts to ensure improved gas pressure for domestic and commercial consumers during the winter season.

According to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), gas supply will remain suspended from Saturday, January 24, at 8am until Monday, January 26, at 8am. During this period, all industrial consumers, captive power plants, and RLNG-based CNG stations will remain closed.

An SSGC spokesperson said the temporary shutdown has been planned to manage increased winter demand and prioritise gas supply for household and commercial users. The move aims to stabilise gas pressure, which often drops sharply during peak winter months due to higher consumption.

The spokesperson clarified that domestic consumers will continue to face routine gas suspension daily from 10pm to 5am, a measure already in place across the province. However, outside these hours, authorities hope the pressure situation will improve due to reduced industrial load.

SSGC has urged consumers not to pay attention to negative or misleading information circulating on social media, stressing that household gas supply remains the company’s top priority. Officials said operational decisions are being taken to balance limited gas resources fairly during the cold season.

In case of low pressure or supply issues, consumers have been advised to contact the company’s 24-hour helpline at 1199 for assistance. SSGC said complaint and response teams will remain active throughout the shutdown period.

The announcement comes amid ongoing challenges in gas distribution during winter, when domestic demand peaks sharply. Authorities said further measures may be considered depending on weather conditions and overall supply availability.
