The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has approved the launch of a cutting-edge AI mobile app for immigration at Pakistani airports, aiming to significantly reduce clearance times and streamline passenger flow. Officials say the system will allow travelers to complete immigration checks in as little as 10 seconds, easing congestion at major terminals.
The AI-based immigration system will complement the existing Integrated Border Management System. Passengers will be required to input personal and travel details into the mobile app before arriving at the airport. The system will verify information against official identity and passport databases, ensuring secure and efficient processing.

In addition, the FIA is rolling out electronic immigration gates at key airports, allowing eligible travelers to scan passports and pass through without manual checks. Once verified, passengers can clear immigration within seconds, reducing long queues and waiting times at busy counters.
Officials said the AI app will use machine learning to create passenger profiles, enabling authorities to detect suspicious travel patterns and potential threats. This measure is part of broader efforts to strengthen border security, prevent illegal immigration, and combat human trafficking.
The initiative aligns with the government’s plan to modernize border controls using artificial intelligence, with a pilot phase expected at Islamabad International Airport. After successful testing, the system will expand to other major airports across Pakistan.
FIA officials confirmed the system will cover both arrivals and departures, allowing flight and ticket details to be processed in advance, further reducing processing times and enhancing overall airport efficiency.
