As Ramadan approaches, the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department in Punjab has unveiled a comprehensive plan to ensure uninterrupted supply and fair pricing of essential goods for the public.
This year, authorities have decided to designate all model bazaars and utility stores across the province as Ramadan Bazaars, providing citizens with easy access to daily necessities during the holy month. Separate sections for flour, sugar, ghee, and chicken will be created to streamline shopping and reduce crowding.
To maintain continuous supply, the department has developed a detailed operational plan for key staples, particularly flour. Officials have emphasized a zero-tolerance policy against selling items above market prices, warning shopkeepers of strict action in case of violations.

Regular inspections will be conducted by food safety officers and designated representatives of Deputy Commissioners, while daily coordination between officers across the province has been prioritized to track inventory and prevent shortages. Enforcement teams will actively monitor both local markets and regional bazaars, ensuring fair pricing, quality checks, and public convenience throughout Ramadan.
The initiative aims to protect consumers from price hikes and shortages, while providing a structured and organized shopping experience during the busy month. Officials urge the public to report any violations or overcharging to maintain transparency and accountability.
With these proactive measures, Punjab’s administration hopes to make Ramadan shopping easier, safer, and more affordable for families, creating a positive experience during the holy month.
