According to the Engineering Development Board, under the Prime Minister’s Electric Vehicle Adoption Scheme, the first phase applicants have already received the subsidy directly in their bank accounts.
Officials say that during the current financial year, nearly Rs9,000,000,000 in subsidies will be provided for electric bikes, rickshaws, and loaders. The government also plans to spend over Rs100,000,000,000 on this initiative by 2030.

Documents reveal that phase one includes subsidies for 41,000 electric vehicles, with 40,000 electric bikes and 1,000 electric rickshaws and loaders. The subsidy amount is being transferred directly to applicants’ accounts through the State Bank of Pakistan.
Under the scheme, the government provides up to Rs80,000 subsidy for electric bikes. Additionally, electric bikes and rickshaws are being offered on easy installments through a bank lease program.
Officials also shared that phase two is ready, which will cover more than 78,000 electric vehicles. The main aim of this scheme is to promote affordable, eco-friendly transport and reduce dependence on fuel.
