The Sindh chief minister approved the funding during a high-level meeting focused on the rehabilitation of Karachi’s damaged road network. The meeting was held in Karachi and reviewed the city’s worsening infrastructure.
Murad Ali Shah said repairing Karachi’s roads will improve urban mobility and help boost economic activity. He stressed that public convenience and citizen safety remain the top priorities of the Sindh government.
Out of the total amount, a special grant of Rs13 billion was approved for road rehabilitation. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab informed the meeting that 409 roads across the city are in poor condition and urgently need repairs.

The government also approved financial assistance for 24 Town Municipal Corporations to support local-level road improvement work.
Provincial Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah said patchwork repairs will be carried out on 400 roads in seven districts, while nine roads will be completely rebuilt. He added that road, sewerage, and water supply projects together will cost Rs12.57 billion.
The chief minister directed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to begin work on 26 major roads. He also approved additional projects worth Rs8.53 billion for roads, storm water drains, and street lighting.
Murad Ali Shah instructed all departments to complete the projects on time, maintain high quality, and ensure full transparency. He also ordered the finance department to release funds immediately.
