Officials reported that around 380 candidates have already paid their down payments for the scheme. The initiative has received a huge response, with more than 350,000 applications submitted in total.
Provincial official Bilal Akbar Khan said that 1,100 candidates were selected through a lottery system. Authorities are now contacting these applicants to complete their down payments, while the verification process for all applications is almost finished.

Under the plan, the Punjab government intends to launch 1,100 electric taxis with a total subsidy of Rs 6 billion. The down payment for each vehicle ranges from Rs 650,000 to Rs 850,000. Officials added that those who have already paid will receive their vehicles soon.
The scheme gives priority to the corporate sector, women, and professional drivers, aiming to provide environmentally friendly transportation while creating social and economic benefits across the province.
