PTI founder set to be free this year? MNA makes new claim
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker Brigadier (retd) Aslam Ghuman made the claim.
Ghuman said talks involving PTI founder Imran Khan were currently taking place at a high level. He suggested that discussions could have an important impact on the political situation.
“High-level talks are underway with PTI founder Imran Khan currently,” Aslam Ghuman said.
The MNA also said he had spoken with some people involved in the negotiations. However, he refused to identify them.
Ghuman explained that the identities of those involved were “a trust” and could not be disclosed publicly.
MNA claims Imran Khan could be released
Ghuman went further by claiming that Imran Khan could be released from prison this year.
He argued that the country could not continue to operate under the present political circumstances. However, he did not provide specific details about a possible release date or the nature of the reported talks.
The claim has not been independently confirmed. No official announcement regarding Imran Khan’s release was mentioned alongside Ghuman’s remarks.
The statement is therefore being viewed as a claim from the PTI MNA rather than confirmation of an agreed political or legal development.
Ghuman also said Imran Khan would not accept any arrangement that allowed the current political “monopoly” to continue alongside him.
His comments suggest that any possible political understanding would face conditions from the PTI founder.
What did Ghuman say about the government?
The PTI lawmaker strongly criticised the government while discussing the country’s political situation.
He described those currently in power as an “incompetent and corrupt group” and accused them of failing to provide effective governance.
Ghuman also praised Qaiser Sheikh, calling him an honest and respectable person.
He claimed Sheikh was not a “Form 47” beneficiary, referring to a term frequently used by PTI supporters in discussions about the 2024 general election results.
The comments reflect the continued political differences between PTI and the government.
