Petrol at Rs300 per litre? Iran could help cut fuel prices in Pakistan
The proposal was presented during a Senate session to provide relief to the public.
Speaking in the Senate, the Balochistan Awami Party leader said people in Balochistan should be allowed to legally bring petrol from Iran for sale. He claimed this step could help make petrol available at nearly Rs300 per litre in Pakistan.

Senator Dinesh Kumar said the people of Balochistan are already facing serious economic difficulties. He added that legal fuel trade from Iran could create better employment opportunities for local residents.
According to the senator, giving legal status to Iranian petrol would also discourage illegal fuel business. He said the government could regulate the system more effectively if proper legal channels were introduced.
Dinesh Kumar further stated that the proposal could help save valuable foreign exchange reserves. He explained that cheaper local fuel availability may reduce pressure on imported petroleum products.
The senator said people in Balochistan could also help provide lower-cost petrol to other provinces, especially Punjab. He argued that legal fuel trade would strengthen local economies and support ordinary consumers struggling with rising fuel costs.
He urged the government to seriously review the proposal for public relief and economic improvement. According to him, the move could reduce financial pressure on both citizens and the national economy.

The proposal has already sparked debate over fuel policy and cross-border trade management. Some experts believe the plan could provide relief, while others may raise concerns over regulation and taxation issues.
The proposal may attract public attention because fuel prices remain high across the country. However, the government could face challenges in managing legal imports, taxes and fuel quality control.
