Naqvi seeks China’s AI-based technologies to combat terrorism

LAHORE (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the headquarters of China’s Ministry of Public Security, where he held detailed talks with Chinese Minister Wang Xiaohong on counterterrorism and law enforcement cooperation.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Chinese counterpart discussed bilateral ties, joint counterterror efforts, police training exchanges, and coordination in key security areas. They agreed to strengthen institutional links and improve operational coordination.

Officials said Pakistan and China decided to hold ‘Joint Working Group’ meetings every three months, while interior ministers of both countries will meet once every year.

Chinese Interior Minister Wang Xiaohong expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s security arrangements for Chinese nationals and ongoing development projects.

The two ministers agreed to further improve joint and rapid-response mechanisms against terrorism and crime. They also decided to expand police training and exchange programs.

Discussions also covered ‘Islamabad–Beijing sister-city’ cooperation, with an agreement to develop a joint strategy to improve the training and professional skills of police and security personnel.

Briefing the Chinese side, Naqvi said Pakistan has significantly strengthened security for Chinese nationals and called their protection a “top priority.”

“We have taken strong measures at all levels to ensure the security of Chinese citizens and joint projects,” he said, adding that a special protection unit is being set up in Islamabad.

Naqvi welcomed Chinese cooperation against cybercrime and said Pakistan is seeking support to strengthen the National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA). He added that China’s AI-based technologies could greatly help Pakistan tackle terrorism and emerging security threats.

“Pakistan and China share an unbreakable bond of enduring cooperation, and no one can create a wedge between us,” he said.

Senior Chinese officials and a high-level Pakistani delegation attended the meeting, reflecting the importance both sides attach to security cooperation.
