NAB recoveries hit record Rs5.41 trillion in first half of 2026
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) says it has achieved its highest-ever six-month recovery record as part of its anti-corruption campaign across Pakistan.
According to an official statement, the bureau made direct and indirect recoveries worth Rs2.45 trillion during the second quarter of 2026.
These latest recoveries increased NAB’s total recoveries for the first half of 2026 to Rs5.41 trillion, making it the highest six-month recovery figure in the institution’s history.
The bureau said a large part of these recoveries came through the retrieval of valuable government land that had been illegally occupied or allotted.
Millions of acres of state land recovered
According to NAB, more than 1.07 million acres of state land were recovered from different parts of Pakistan during the anti-corruption drive.
The recovered land is located across Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The bureau said these recoveries involved land belonging to several government departments, including the National Highway Authority (NHA), forest departments, irrigation authorities and other public institutions.
Officials described the operation as one of the largest land recovery campaigns carried out in recent years.
Among all regional offices, NAB Sukkur recorded the highest recovery.
The bureau said NAB Sukkur recovered 853,678 acres of land belonging to the NHA, forest and irrigation departments.
According to NAB, the recovered land is valued at approximately Rs1.01 trillion.
The bureau added that the recovery was made with the support of the Sindh Board of Revenue and the provincial Forest Department.
Balochistan, Karachi and Lahore record major recoveries
NAB Balochistan also reported significant progress during the second quarter.
According to the bureau, it recovered 209,544 acres of land, including areas linked to Hingol National Park and the Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA).
The estimated value of these recovered properties stands at Rs604.64 billion, according to NAB.
Meanwhile, NAB Karachi recovered 11,422 acres of state land that had allegedly been illegally allotted.
The bureau also recovered disputed housing society leases, with the combined value of these assets estimated at Rs467.11 billion.
NAB Lahore reported the recovery of 1,909 acres of government and Pakistan Council of Basic Literacy (PCBL) land.
According to the bureau, these assets are valued at Rs288.29 billion.
NAB Islamabad and Rawalpindi recovered 810 acres of Capital Development Authority (CDA) amenity plots with an estimated value of Rs66.63 billion.
In Multan, officials recovered 920 acres of government land worth approximately Rs2.76 billion.
The bureau said these recoveries are part of its wider efforts to protect public assets and prevent illegal occupation of government property.

Financial relief provided to fraud victims
Apart from recovering land, NAB also reported progress in financial and housing fraud cases.
According to the bureau, more than 24,365 people received compensation after NAB returned Rs43.303 billion in recovered money and assets.
Officials said these funds were returned to individuals who had suffered losses in different housing and financial fraud cases.
The bureau added that providing relief to victims remains one of its major priorities alongside recovering public assets.
NAB said its anti-corruption operations will continue across the country with the aim of protecting state resources and ensuring accountability.
The bureau also stated that investigations and recovery efforts are continuing in several ongoing cases.
