Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has completed the balloting process for 720 newly built flats for homeless industrial workers at the Sundar Industrial Estate, marking a major step in workers’ housing welfare.
The chief minister formally launched the draw by pressing a button. She personally called successful workers to congratulate them. She also ordered authorities to hand over flats within seven days. Maryam Nawaz said the state, like a caring mother, has ensured homes for 720 hardworking families. She added that industrial workers have been freed from the pain of monthly rent and forced evictions.
Maryam Nawaz directed that widows and persons with disabilities be given flats without going through the balloting process. She also ordered the completion of 1,872 additional flats for industrial workers within the next 18 months. To support single workers, she instructed officials to complete a 700-bed bachelor hostel at Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura within three months. She further ordered that special industrial workers be provided ground-floor flats for ease of access.
The chief minister personally called an industrial worker, Nadeem Tahir, to congratulate him. She advised him to keep his parents with him, saying their prayers played a role in his success.

Provincial Labour Minister Inshaullah Butt said free flats, plots, and bachelor hostels for industrial workers reflect the vision of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Under the project, 480 flats were allocated to workers from Kasur, while 240 were reserved for Lahore workers. The total cost of the Sundar Industrial Estate housing project is Rs3.40 billion. Each flat costs over Rs3.6 million.
Separately, Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the martyrs of the Army Public School Peshawar tragedy, honoring the bravery of the children and their families.
