Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed across Pakistan today (Thursday) to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and their struggle for the right to self-determination under United Nations resolutions.
The day comes amid renewed concerns over alleged human rights violations in IIOJK, where Kashmiri leaders and rights groups say restrictions, detentions, and curbs on civil liberties continue to intensify. Pakistani officials and civil society groups maintain that the observance aims to highlight the unresolved Kashmir dispute and mobilize international attention toward a peaceful, just solution in line with UN Security Council resolutions.

Public Holiday, Prayers, and Nationwide Events
A public holiday has been declared across the country. The day began with special prayers in mosques for the prosperity of Pakistan, eternal peace for the martyrs of Kashmir’s freedom struggle, and peace in Muslim regions facing occupation, including Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.
Across Pakistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and among overseas Pakistani and Kashmiri communities, rallies, seminars, walks for peace, conventions, exhibitions, and declamation contests are being organized. Political, educational, social, and literary organizations are leading events to amplify the Kashmiri people’s voices and reaffirm continued support until the realization of their right to self-determination.
Renewed Pledge for Global Engagement
Organizers and speakers stressed the need for the international community to move beyond statements and actively facilitate dialogue and accountability mechanisms to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with international law and UN mandates. Kashmiri communities worldwide are also marking the day with a renewed pledge to continue their peaceful struggle for freedom and dignity.
