Officials said the initiative will start from March 26, 2026 and will apply across the metro bus networks operating in these major cities.
The programme has been launched by the Punjab Mass Transit Authority to make daily travel more affordable for passengers who depend on public transport.
Authorities explained that the new subsidy aims to reduce travel expenses for thousands of people who use the metro bus service every day.
Officials also believe that the introduction of the T-Cash card discount will encourage commuters to move towards digital payments instead of paying cash.
According to officials, digital fare collection will make the ticketing system faster and more organised across the mass transit network.
The metro bus service is one of the most widely used public transport systems in Punjab, especially for students, workers, and daily commuters who rely on affordable travel.

By offering a reduced fare through T-Cash cards, the government hopes to improve passenger convenience and promote a modern payment system for public transport.
Digital payment systems are becoming common in public transport worldwide. Discount offers like this may encourage more people to use smart cards. It can also make ticket collection faster and reduce handling of cash.
