Imran’s spouse Bushra Bibi freed after bail granted by IHC in Toshakhana case
RAWALPINDI: (Suno News) Former prime minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi was released from Adiala Jail on Thursday ending nearly nine-month detention.

A day earlier, the Islamabad High Court granted the former first lady post-arrest bail in new Toshakhana case. In the case Imran and Bushra were arrested on July 13, following their acquittal in the Iddat case the same day.

In the case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) accused them of retaining a Bvlgari jewellery set gifted by a foreign leader — including a necklace, earrings, bracelets, and rings — at a low price, saying it caused significant loss to the exchequer.

On Wednesday, the IHC had accepted Bushra’s bail in the same case, following which a special court issued her release orders today.

In a post on social media platform X, PTI confirmed that Bushra had reached Bani Gala.

Before her release, Special Judge (central) Shahrukh Arjumand issued Bushra’s release orders after submission of surety bonds worth Rs1 million.

The released order reads: “The bail of the accused in the above-mentioned case has been approved by the high court. if the accused is not wanted in any other case, then they should be released on confirmation”.

The party welcomed her release in a post on X. saying: “You have faced extremely difficult times, disgusting campaign and character assassination attempts against your during your illegal time in jail. The Pakistani nation salutes your bravery!”

“Red salute to Bushra Bibi, the woman who endured 265 worst days in jail,” PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said on X.

He added it was a “great day” for Bushra’s family, noting that his legal team “worked tirelessly”. He expressed the hope that the release of Imran and his sisters was also “around the corner”.
