“This is to clarify that I have not made any statement to the media about Ali Amin Gandapur. I have not spoken to any media outlet that ‘news about change of CM KP is fake or is a conspiracy against the party’,” Gohar wrote on X.
His clarification came shortly after several media reports suggested that CM Gandapur might be replaced, sparking confusion and speculation within political circles.
The controversy follows a tense week for the PTI, as internal disputes between senior members have once again surfaced. The rift deepened after Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan and CM Gandapur exchanged serious allegations against each other.
According to reports, Aleema accused Gandapur of telling her imprisoned brother, Imran Khan, that she was attempting to hijack the party with the support of the “establishment” and Military Intelligence (MI). Her remarks came just a day after Gandapur’s two-hour meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, after which he avoided speaking to the press.

Responding to these claims in a video statement, Gandapur alleged that “certain campaigns are being run to project Aleema Khan as PTI chairperson,” adding that such actions were damaging the party’s unity and credibility.
Aleema Khan — who has become increasingly active since her brother’s imprisonment in August 2023 — continues to meet him regularly in jail. Her growing influence, coupled with Gandapur’s accusations, has fueled widespread speculation that PTI is facing serious internal fractures between the core leadership and Imran’s close family circle.
PTI’s ongoing leadership disputes reflect growing instability within the party at a crucial political juncture. Gohar’s clarification shows his attempt to distance himself from internal power struggles. Meanwhile, Aleema and Gandapur’s verbal clash highlights the visible cracks in party discipline. Experts say that unless PTI leadership unites under clear communication and internal harmony, these rifts could weaken the party’s political standing and public trust.
