In a rare show of international solidarity, 14 former cricket captains from around the world have appealed to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure medical treatment for former prime minister and Imran Khan. The petition, led by former Australian captain Greg Chappell, was formally submitted to the Prime Minister’s office this week.
The petition emphasizes the urgent need for proper healthcare and humane treatment for Imran Khan, who has been facing health concerns while in custody. According to reports, the captains expressed deep concern over the well-being of the former PTI leader, urging authorities to facilitate immediate medical attention.
The appeal was signed by cricketing legends including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Allan Border, Steve Waugh, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark, Kim Hughes, Mike Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Mike Brearley, David Gower, Clive Lloyd, and John Wright.

Analysts suggest that the international appeal not only highlights Imran Khan’s health situation but also increases global attention on Pakistan’s handling of political and humanitarian issues. The petition underscores the importance of ensuring the rights and welfare of all citizens, including high-profile political figures.
The Pakistan government has not yet issued an official response, but the submission of the petition signals growing international scrutiny.
