K-Electric (KE) customers are expected to receive relief in their electricity bills for July 2025, as the company has submitted a petition for a provisional monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for April 2025. The adjustment indicates a reduction of Rs4.0349 per unit, which will be passed on to consumers in Karachi.
Fuel charges are adjusted monthly based on global fuel price fluctuations and changes in the energy generation mix. These adjustments are scrutinized and approved by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) before being reflected in consumer bills. When global fuel prices drop, customers benefit through negative FCAs, resulting in lower bills.

According to Nepra, this FCA will be applicable to all customer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic protected consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), and all categories of prepaid electricity consumers who have opted for the prepaid tariff.
Additionally, Nepra has provisionally retained Rs800 million from the April FCA. This amount relates to adjustments for partial load operations, open cycle performance, degradation curves, and start-up costs as per the generation tariff decision applicable from July 2023. This sum will be settled against pending claims by KE to ensure that future consumer bills are not burdened with these costs.
