Karachi citizens to get relief in electricity prices

KARACHI (Web Desk): The approval of a reduction of Rs.4.89 per unit in electricity taxes has been requested from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by K-Electric under the April 2025 fuel cost amalgamation for its buyers.
NEPRA will hear K-Electric s request today. If the decrease is approved, it would mean a relief of Rs. 7.17 billion for K-Electric consumers.
This change in reduction in the tariffs on electricity is being proposed because in April prices of fuel significantly drop and this adjustment is a part of the monthly fuel charge adjustment system.

This follows after NEPRA previously issued its order on K-Electric s (KE) write-off petition, approving part-claims of Rs. 50 billion against the company s claims of Rs. 76 billion related to the Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) control period from FY17 to FY23.
