(Web Desk): The Sindh government has issued a notification announcing two public holidays on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura.

As per the details, the Chief Secretary of Sindh issued a notification announcing that there will be public holidays across Sindh on the 9th and 10th of Muharram and the 5th and 6th of July 2025, respectively.

Due to the public holidays, all government and private educational institutions and offices will remain closed. However, government and administrative departments assigned duties related to processions will remain operational as usual, and the notification will not apply to employees of essential services.

Meanwhile, the federal government has decided to deploy the Pakistan Army nationwide to ensure law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram. The Ministry of Interior has officially issued a notification in this regard. The army will assist civil institutions under Article 245.Given security concerns surrounding processions and gatherings, especially on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, the government has finalised a security plan and decided to deploy the army. Troops will be stationed in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir to promptly deal with any untoward incidents.

As per the notification, the civil administration will be assisted by the Pakistan Army in maintaining law and order in Islamabad and sensitive areas across the country. In the federal capital the deployment of the army has been approved.

The Ministry of Interior has been requested by the Gilgit-Baltistan administration and provincial governments for the deployment of the army. The federal government has issued the notification for the deployment.

This measure has been taken into consideration for the month of Muharram to prevent terrorism, sectarian tensions and unrest among the public and to safeguard them against such evils.
