According to Rizwana Anjum, programme head, the government plans to convert 2,000 petrol bikes this fiscal year—and remove 8,000 tonnes of annual CO₂ emissions from Punjab’s roads. The broader goal: shift 30% of the province’s transport fleet to electric by 2030 and cut transport emissions by 20%.

Launched by Senior Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on May 7, 2025, the Green Credit Program rewards citizens for all kinds of eco-friendly actions—from planting trees to installing solar panels. Each “green credit” is worth Rs10,000.

Punjab’s ‘Green Credit’ offer is more than a subsidy—it’s a pathway toward financial ease and a greener tomorrow for citizens across the province.
