(Web Desk): Security forces killed 11 terrorists in Balochistan during separate intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk, ISPR said.

Security forces conduct operations in Kharan and Washuk

Security forces killed 11 terrorists during separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, according to the military’s media affairs wing.

The Inter-Services Public Relations said the operations were carried out after reports about the presence of terrorists in the two areas.

According to ISPR, the operation in Kharan was conducted on September 6, while the operation in Washuk took place on September 7.

The military said the terrorists were linked to what the state refers to as the Indian proxy “Fitna al Hindustan”.

The term Fitna al Hindustan is used by Pakistani authorities when referring to alleged Indian involvement in terrorism and attempts to create instability inside Pakistan.

The latest operations come as security forces continue efforts to prevent militant groups from establishing positions and carrying out attacks in different parts of Balochistan.

Eight terrorists killed during Kharan operation

The ISPR statement said terrorists had attempted to establish a roadblock in Kharan, disrupting traffic and movement in the area.

Security forces responded quickly after receiving information about the activity, according to the military.

“The security forces promptly intercepted and engaged the terrorists, whereby, killing eight Indian sponsored terrorists,” the ISPR said.

The operation ended with eight terrorists being killed, while security personnel continued efforts to secure the surrounding area.

The incident highlights the security challenges faced in remote parts of Balochistan, where difficult terrain can make counterterrorism operations more challenging.

Security forces have continued intelligence-based operations in areas where militant activity or suspected hideouts are reported.

Three terrorists killed in Washuk operation

A separate operation was conducted in Washuk district on September 7 after security officials received information about the presence of terrorists.

ISPR described the operation as “deliberately planned”, indicating that security forces had prepared for the action based on intelligence gathered about the suspected militants.

During the operation, troops located and targeted a terrorist hideout.

“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively busted terrorists’ hideout and after an intense fire exchange, three terrorists were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

With the three deaths reported in Washuk, the total number of terrorists killed in the two operations reached 11.

The security forces also recovered a large quantity of explosives from the hideout.

2.9 tonnes of explosives recovered

According to ISPR, security forces recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives during the Washuk operation.

The military said the explosives were being used for preparing improvised explosive devices, commonly known as IEDs.

The recovery is significant because explosives and IEDs can be used to target security personnel, public places, roads and other important infrastructure.

The discovery also prompted further security measures in the area.

ISPR said sanitisation operations were under way to search the area and identify any other suspected militants who may still be present.

Such operations are normally carried out after the main engagement to ensure that no remaining threats are left behind.

The military said the process would continue until the area was considered secure.

Security forces continue counterterrorism campaign

ISPR also reaffirmed that security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counterterrorism efforts across the country.

The military said the campaign was being carried out under “Azm-i-Istehkam”, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.

According to ISPR, the objective is to eliminate the “menace of foreign-sponsored and -supported terrorism from the country”.

The statement stressed that security agencies would continue intelligence-based actions against militant networks and their suspected supporters.

The operations in Kharan and Washuk are part of wider counterterrorism efforts aimed at disrupting militant activity before it can develop into larger security threats.

Interior minister praises security forces

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces following the operations.

The Interior Ministry said Naqvi appreciated the professional skills of the personnel for stopping what he described as the “nefarious designs” of the terrorists.

He also expressed support for continued action against militants accused by the government of being Indian-sponsored.

“The brave sons of the security forces are a source of pride for the nation and it stands with them in the fight against terrorism,” Naqvi was quoted as saying.

The minister said the government remained committed to supporting security personnel involved in counterterrorism operations.

His comments came after the military announced the deaths of 11 terrorists and the recovery of a significant quantity of explosives.
