Goods transporters in Faisalabad have increased freight rates by 10%, saying the rise in diesel prices has made existing charges difficult to maintain. The move comes as transport costs across Pakistan face renewed pressure following recent petroleum price increases. Recent national coverage has also reported freight-rate increases after the latest fuel hike.

The latest increase could add to transportation expenses for businesses and traders moving goods between Faisalabad and other major cities.

Faisalabad freight rates revised

The freight charge from Faisalabad to Jhang has increased from Rs13,000 to Rs14,300. The rate for Lahore has risen from Rs18,400 to Rs21,300 following the latest adjustment.

Transport charges for other major destinations have also increased. The Faisalabad-to-Karachi rate has climbed from Rs70,200 to Rs78,000, while the Multan rate has increased from Rs20,300 to Rs22,350.

Karachi and Peshawar transport costs rise

The freight charge from Faisalabad to Peshawar has increased from Rs61,600 to Rs68,400. Transporters say higher diesel costs have left them with little choice but to revise their rates.

The development comes amid wider concerns over rising freight and logistics costs. Recent reporting has linked higher fuel prices with increased cargo transportation charges and warned that additional transport expenses could eventually put pressure on commodity prices.

Transporters maintain that the fare increase is necessary to cover higher operating expenses and keep goods movement running.
