(Web Desk): PIA suspends flights to UAE, Bahrain, Doha and Kuwait amid Middle East crisis as regional airspace closures disrupt Gulf travel.

PIA suspends flights to UAE and other Gulf countries as escalating Middle East tensions trigger widespread airspace closures and flight cancellations across the region.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) announced on Saturday that it has suspended flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Doha, and Kuwait due to the “evolving situation in the Middle East.”

In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the national carrier confirmed that operations to key Gulf destinations have been temporarily halted as a precautionary safety measure.

Flights to Saudi Arabia, however, are continuing with route adjustments. PIA stated that aircraft are being rerouted to avoid conflict-hit airspace zones.

Middle East Airspace Closures Disrupt Global Aviation

The PIA flight suspension comes as multiple Middle Eastern countries shut down their airspace following US-Israel strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory missile attacks.

Countries including Iran, Iraq, Israel, Syria, Kuwait, and the UAE announced partial or complete airspace closures within hours of explosions being reported over Tehran. Iranian missile activity reportedly extended toward parts of the Gulf region, prompting heightened aviation alerts.

The rapid escalation has significantly disrupted global flight operations, particularly routes connecting Europe, South Asia, and the Gulf.

International Airlines Cancel Flights

Several major international carriers have also announced widespread cancellations, including:

  • Air France
  • Air India
  • Turkish Airlines
  • Norwegian Air Shuttle
  • Air Algérie
  • Lufthansa

Airlines are actively reassessing flight paths to avoid restricted zones, resulting in longer travel times and operational delays.

Impact on Passengers and Travel Advisory

With Middle East flight cancellations mounting, passengers traveling to or transiting through Gulf hubs are advised to check flight status before departure.

Aviation experts warn that prolonged airspace restrictions could lead to increased ticket prices, extended travel durations, and congestion at alternative transit hubs.

PIA has urged passengers to remain in contact with the airline for real-time updates and possible rebooking options.

Regional Tensions Fuel Aviation Uncertainty

The Middle East crisis has created unprecedented pressure on regional aviation corridors, particularly those linking Pakistan, the Gulf, and Europe. As tensions remain high, further schedule changes and cancellations cannot be ruled out.

Authorities continue to monitor developments closely, with safety remaining the top priority for airlines operating in and around the conflict zone.
