(Web Desk): Security forces killed 12 terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kalat district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The operation was carried out after security forces received information about the presence of suspected militants in the area.

According to ISPR, the operation was conducted on Wednesday against members of what it described as the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan.

Security forces located the suspected hideout and monitored the movement before launching the operation. ISPR said the hideout was then destroyed through what it described as a prompt and targeted action.

“During the conduct of the operation, the terrorists’ hideout was identified, monitored and busted through prompt surgical action,” ISPR said.

The military’s media wing added that “all 12 Indian-sponsored terrorists” were killed during the operation.

Weapons and explosives destroyed

Security forces also recovered a quantity of ammunition and improvised explosive devices during the operation.

According to ISPR, the weapons and explosives were destroyed at the site to prevent them from being used in further attacks.

A follow-up sanitisation operation is also underway in the area. Security forces are searching for any other suspected militants who may still be present.

The military said the operation was part of its wider campaign against terrorism across the country.

ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-i-Istehkam” would continue at full pace to counter what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.

Balochistan sees fresh rise in militant activity

The Kalat operation comes amid a recent increase in militant activity across Balochistan.

In another incident, TTP militants reportedly attacked the Customs House near Ziarat Cross on the N-50 National Highway in Pishin district during the night of August 31 and September 1.

Security forces responded to the attack and killed 10 militants, according to reports.

Six people, including two security officers, were also killed during the exchange of fire.

The incident highlighted the continuing security challenges faced by Balochistan, where militant groups have carried out attacks against security forces and other targets.

Another highway attack reported

Another operation was also reported in Balochistan on August 31.

According to the military, 11 militants linked to Fitna al Hindustan were killed after they allegedly established an illegal checkpoint on the N-40 Quetta-Taftan highway.

The militants were accused of blocking traffic and attempting to collect money through extortion.

Security forces engaged the group, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which the 11 militants were killed.

The recent incidents have increased pressure on security agencies to prevent militant groups from establishing a presence in different parts of the province.
