CTD Karachi arrests two suspects, foils BLA terror plot
The CTD identified the suspects as Mujahid Baloch and Fareed Baloch, also known as Zakir Bin, detained during an intelligence-based operation. According to the department, both men had received training at BLA camps, specifically in reconnaissance and communications, and were operating in Karachi on the instructions of BLA commanders Sajid Baloch and Basheer Zeb.
Officials said the pair had been gathering information on sensitive installations and attempting to build a network capable of carrying out attacks on security forces and other key sites in the city.
The arrests come just over a week after one of the deadliest recent attacks on Pakistan's security forces in Karachi, when three Pakistan Rangers personnel were killed and four others wounded on June 27 after militants targeted a Rangers camp.

That assault, claimed by the military's media wing to have been carried out by Jamaat-ul-Ahrar operatives, involved a suicide bomber followed by armed men storming the camp gate. Investigators said the surviving attacker, arrested alive, was linked to a militant network based in Afghanistan.
Taken together, these two incidents reveal a pattern security analysts have flagged for months: as operations in Balochistan degrade the BLA's ability to strike within the province, the group and its affiliates appear to be pushing further into Karachi, Pakistan's economic hub, to sustain relevance and inflict higher-profile damage.
The CTD's own past disclosures, including a 2,000-kilogram explosives haul intercepted earlier this year, also linked to the Bashir Zeb-led BLA network, support this shift.
For now, the CTD says additional teams are continuing the investigation and further operations based on information from the two suspects already in custody.
