Supreme Court announces 18 law clerk vacancies for 2026
Appointment timeline
According to the official notification, selected candidates will join in phases, with employment beginning in August, November, and December 2026, and February 2027. The staggered start dates suggest the court will onboard clerks in batches rather than all at once.
Eligibility and Application Process
The Law Clerkship application form, along with the required academic qualifications and other terms and conditions, is available both in the official advertisement and on the Supreme Court's website at www.supremecourt.gov.pk. Interested candidates are advised to carefully review the advertisement before applying.
The Supreme Court's Law Clerkship Program has run since 2010, when it was introduced by then-Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, who later became Chief Justice of Pakistan.
The program pairs recent law graduates with sitting judges to assist with legal research, case analysis, and drafting, modelled on clerkship systems used at courts in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and elsewhere.

Deadline and Stipend
The deadline for submitting applications is July 23, 2026. Candidates are urged not to wait until the last moment, as no extensions are typically granted once the deadline closes.
Selected clerks are typically required to work directly with the judges of the apex court for the duration of their one-year contract, which may be extended.
