ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Supreme Court has ordered Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital today amid concerns over his health and demand for a detailed medical examination.

Court questions medical condition

During the hearing, PTI lawyers presented reports about Imran Khan’s condition before the court. The judges raised questions about his medical care and the facilities available to him in jail.
Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan asked whether angiography could be carried out in jail. The Islamabad advocate general said that if such a procedure became necessary, Imran Khan could be shifted to a hospital.

Justice Shahid Waheed observed that the report mentioned an issue with his echocardiogram. It also referred to increased anxiety, while his heart rate and blood pressure were reportedly not normal.

The Islamabad advocate general told the court that doctors examine Imran Khan three times a day.

The judge questioned why health concerns were still being reported despite regular medical checks. He also asked whether doctors’ recommendations for more family meetings had been followed.

Complete medical record sought

The Supreme Court also questioned why the complete Imran Khan medical record had not been submitted. The court was told that only a summary had been provided.
The bench ordered that the complete record be submitted before the next hearing. The court also observed that once the record is presented, it will no longer remain confidential.

The development has put renewed focus on Imran Khan treatment arrangements and the medical care available to him.

Questions over family meetings

The court also asked authorities about meetings between Imran Khan and his sisters.
The Islamabad advocate general said meetings could be restricted if anyone violated the law. Justice Shahid Waheed questioned whether the state could also disregard legal requirements.

The judge said meetings with his sisters were not a favour but a basic right. The court also questioned why Islamabad High Court directions were not being followed.

Authorities told the court that Imran Khan’s sisters had met him 48 times over three years. The Supreme Court sought complete details of those meetings.

Children’s calls also under review

The court also sought records of telephone calls between Imran Khan and his children.
His lawyer Uzair Bhandari requested permission for his sisters to meet him and said they would not speak to the media.

The lawyer also requested meetings for Uzma Khan and Dr Asim Yusuf and sought a complete medical examination at Shifa International Hospital.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan stressed that Imran Khan’s health should not become a political issue.
