Rescue 1122 employees get pay raise and job extension
Sindh approves salary increase
The Sindh government has approved a 7% salary increase for Rescue 1122 employees. The decision was taken during the sixth meeting of the Sindh Emergency Council chaired by Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser Gianchand Esrani.
The meeting reviewed the performance, financial matters and administrative issues of Rescue 1122. The welfare and other concerns of the emergency service employees were also discussed.
Contract jobs extended for one year
The council also approved a one-year extension for all contract employees working in Rescue 1122. A Rs30 million martyrs package for rescue workers was also approved during the meeting.
Officials also discussed possible new allowances for employees. The Sindh Finance Department will be approached for approval of these additional allowances.
Rescue 1122 handles thousands of calls
Rescue 1122 officials told the meeting that the service has provided medical and other emergency assistance to more than 1.33 million people since its establishment. The service has also saved 5,238 lives in different accidents and emergencies.
The department currently receives more than 10,000 calls every day. It is operating with 149 vehicles and 1,723 employees to provide emergency services.
Health insurance and pension under review
The meeting also discussed health insurance and pension matters for Rescue 1122 employees. Officials decided to send recommendations to the provincial cabinet after completing consultations on these issues.
Fire safety audits and an anti-rabies campaign were also reviewed during the meeting. At the same time, employees showing poor performance were issued strict warnings.
The salary increase and contract extension provide financial and job-related relief to Rescue 1122 employees. The government is also considering further benefits related to allowances, health insurance and pensions.
The figures presented at the meeting show the large workload handled by Rescue 1122 across Sindh. Further decisions on employee benefits will depend on consultations and approval by the relevant provincial authorities.
