PM Shehbaz launches scheme to distribute 500,000 Chromebooks
The programme is part of wider efforts to improve Pakistan digital education and give young people better access to modern learning tools.
500,000 Chromebooks to Be Distributed in Two Years
Speaking at the ceremony, Shehbaz Sharif described students as Pakistan’s most valuable asset. He said the country was beginning a new journey to empower young people and expand their access to education.
The prime minister compared the new initiative with an earlier laptop distribution programme.
"In the past, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz distributed 600,00 laptops in 10 years. Now, 500,000 Chromebooks will be distributed in two years," he said.
The PM 500,000 Chromebooks initiative is expected to help students use digital resources for their studies. The government plans to distribute the devices in phases over the next two years.
PM Says Talent Is Not Limited by Wealth
Shehbaz Sharif said talent and hard work were not limited to people from wealthy families. Students from less privileged backgrounds should also have opportunities to succeed.
The free Chromebooks for students are intended to improve access to technology, particularly for young people who may not be able to afford their own devices.
The prime minister stressed that students need knowledge and practical skills to face modern challenges. Access to digital tools can support learning, research and the development of skills needed for future opportunities.
Danish Schools to Provide Free Education
The prime minister also said at least 27 Danish schools were being built across Pakistan. These institutions aim to provide quality facilities and educational services free of charge.
The schools are intended to help deserving students continue their education and access better learning opportunities.
Alongside the Chromebook initiative, these efforts form part of the government’s stated plans to improve Pakistan digital education and support students from different economic backgrounds.
