Keeping in view the intensity of the ongoing cold weather, students have been given major relief as education authorities relaxed uniform rules to help them cope with harsh winter conditions.
The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) Colleges has issued an official notification allowing students to wear winter clothing of any color in colleges. According to the notification, students are now permitted to wear sweaters, coats, jackets, caps, and socks without any restriction on color or design, ensuring comfort during extreme cold.

The decision comes amid a prolonged cold spell affecting large parts of the province, with temperatures dropping sharply, especially during morning hours. Students and parents had raised concerns over health risks, prompting authorities to take timely action.
Officials said the move aims to prioritize student health and attendance, as many students were struggling to attend classes due to inadequate protection against the cold. By allowing flexible winter attire, colleges hope to reduce illness-related absences and provide a safer learning environment.
The notification clearly states that the relaxation in uniform policy will remain effective until February 28, giving students sufficient time to stay warm throughout the peak winter season. College administrations have been instructed to fully implement the directive and avoid penalizing students for winter clothing choices during this period.

This step has been widely welcomed by students, parents, and teachers, who see it as a practical and student-friendly decision. The move also aligns with public sentiment, as calls for winter relief measures — including vacation extensions — have gained momentum in recent weeks.
Authorities have advised students to dress appropriately for weather conditions while continuing their academic activities as scheduled.
