The fully funded fellowship welcomes international researchers, including applicants from Pakistan, to conduct research at the Georg Eckert Institute (GEI), also known as the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media, located in Brunswick.
The six-month fellowship focuses on Education for Sustainable Peace and aims to support professionals and scholars who are working to strengthen peace education in post-conflict or transitional societies. The fellowship encourages the development of research and educational materials that contribute to lasting peace and social stability.

Research Focus
The fellowship centers on Education for Sustainable Peace, particularly within societies emerging from conflict or undergoing political and social transitions.
Participants are expected to:
Work on curriculum design or educational materials that promote peace and conflict resolution.
Engage in research that links theory with practical solutions for community-level education.
Collaborate with other researchers at the institute to exchange ideas and expand academic understanding in the field of peace education.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be experienced professionals or researchers with at least five years of work in peace education, education policy, or related fields.
Demonstrate a clear commitment to education for peace in their professional work or research.
Hold advanced qualifications in areas such as Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Political Science, Law, or related disciplines.
Have a proven record of combining academic achievement with practical field experience.
Be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Applicants with backgrounds in journalism, government, or NGO management related to peace and education are also encouraged to apply.

About the Fellowship
The Georg Arnhold Senior Fellowship was established to promote international understanding and contribute to global peace through educational reform. The program connects theory and practice by linking academic research with on-ground initiatives.
Fellows will spend six months at the GEI Institute, where they will conduct research, engage in policy dialogue, and develop educational resources aimed at peacebuilding. The institute provides access to a wide academic network and assists fellows in publishing their research outcomes.
The next fellowship cycle (for 2027) will begin in January 2027, following the completion of the 2026 term.
