Secretary of Education Khalid Nazir Wattoo said that considering the current weather conditions, all schools will officially close for summer vacations starting from June 1. However, he also hinted that if temperatures rise even more, schools could shut down earlier — possibly in the last week of May!
He explained that this decision was made to protect the health and safety of students, teachers, and parents. The severe heat can be dangerous for children, and if the situation worsens, early closure is very likely.
The Education Department has directed school administrations to keep a close eye on the weather and to immediately follow any updated instructions about vacation dates. Teachers have also been asked to guide students about drinking water regularly, staying safe from direct sunlight, and taking other precautions during this hot weather.
Parents are likely to welcome the decision, praising the government for taking steps to protect children’s health during this intense heatwave.
