LAHORE (Web Desk): In a welcome move, the School Education Department has announced promotions for teachers holding mathematics degrees.

According to a notification issued by the department’s equivalence committee, a BS in Mathematics will now be recognised as a 16-year academic qualification for the purpose of promotions.

Previously, teachers that specialised in mathematics were often excluded from the departmental promotion lists, which caused many teachers to wait for years for their advancement.

In order to ensure that there is equal treatment across all disciplines, Kashif Shehzad, Provincial President of the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU), encouraged the government to extend the same recognition to BS degree holders in other subjects.
