Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz launched the Climate Leadership Internship Program offering Rs60,000 monthly to students for climate action training and sustainability projects.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched the Climate Leadership Development Internship Program, offering university students across Punjab a monthly stipend of Rs60,000. The initiative aims to equip young people with practical knowledge and leadership skills in environmental protection and climate action.

The program has been introduced by the Punjab Environment Protection and Climate Change Department to nurture a new generation of climate leaders who can contribute to sustainability initiatives and environmental policymaking in Pakistan.

Rs60,000 Monthly Stipend for Selected Students

Under the Climate Leadership Internship Program, selected students will receive Rs60,000 per month while gaining hands-on experience in climate-related projects. The internship focuses on areas such as climate policy development, environmental management, sustainability planning, and green economy initiatives.

Participants will work on real-world environmental projects designed to address climate challenges in Punjab, while building professional skills that can support their future careers in the environmental sector.

How to Apply for the Climate Internship Program

University students from across Punjab are encouraged to apply for the program through the official online portal:
epd.punjab.gov.pk/climateinternship

Applicants must submit their applications before March 29, 2026 to be considered for the first batch of interns.

Students who require assistance with the application process can contact the dedicated helpline 1373, which has been established to guide applicants through the registration procedure.

Promoting Youth Engagement in Climate Action

While inaugurating the first batch, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to youth empowerment and environmental awareness.

She stated that the program will allow students to actively participate in climate action, environmental protection efforts, and policy development, while gaining valuable professional experience that can prepare them for leadership roles in Pakistan’s evolving green economy.

The Climate Leadership Development Internship Program is expected to play a significant role in promoting sustainability and building climate-conscious leadership among young people in Punjab.
