Punjab boards introduce new marking policy for practical exams 2026
Punjab education boards have introduced a new marking policy for Intermediate Part-II Practical Examinations 2026. The biggest change is that the written part of practical papers will now be checked through a centralized system instead of at examination centres.
The revised policy will be implemented for practical exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and Statistics. According to the schedule, BISE Lahore Inter Part-II Practical Exams 2026 will begin on 10 July 2026.
Under the new system, practical examiners will no longer assess the written answer sheets during the practical examination. Instead, all written practical papers will be sent to the respective education boards, where they will be checked through a centralized marking process similar to theory paper evaluation.
However, students will continue to be assessed at their practical examination centres for their laboratory performance, handwritten practical notebooks, and viva voce. These parts of the examination will remain the responsibility of the practical examiners.

The new policy means students must prepare equally for every section of the practical examination. Strong performance in lab work, oral questions, practical notebooks, and written practical answers will all be important for achieving good marks.
Education officials believe the centralized checking system will make the marking process more transparent and uniform across Punjab boards. The change is also expected to improve fairness by ensuring written practical papers are evaluated under the same standards.
The new policy is likely to bring more consistency in marking because written papers will be checked using one system. Students should focus on every part of the practical exam, as success will now depend on both their practical skills and their written answers.
