Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Matric exams delayed in Rawalpindi as 64 centers halt papers, while exams continue in other districts.

According to the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi spokesperson Arslan Cheema, only centers within Rawalpindi city are affected. Students in other parts of the Rawalpindi Division are appearing in exams according to the original schedule.

Officials said the postponed papers include “Urdu Compulsory” and “Urdu Compulsory (Dars-e-Nizami Group)” in the morning session. In the evening session, “Urdu Compulsory” and “Geography of Pakistan” papers have also been delayed.

The board has announced that a revised date sheet will be issued later. Students will be informed through official channels about the updated exam schedule.

In a separate development, strict action has been taken against examination staff in Murree over alleged cheating. Authorities removed five officials, including the superintendent, deputy superintendent, invigilator, and an IT teacher.

The action followed a surprise inspection at Government High School Ghora Gali, where irregularities were found during ongoing chemistry and general science exams.

Officials discovered that an adjacent room was being misused. Solved answer sheets of three candidates were recovered from the IT teacher, raising serious concerns about unfair assistance.

Initial reports suggested that the candidates had already completed their exams. However, it was later found that less than half of the exam time had passed, confirming a serious violation of rules.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan ordered the immediate removal of the involved staff. Commissioner and BISE Chairman Engineer Amir Khattak also expressed strong displeasure over the incident.

He directed authorities to ensure transparent and merit-based action under the law, warning that corruption and mismanagement in the examination system will not be tolerated.

An inquiry has been launched, and a detailed report will be prepared to prevent such incidents in the future.
