While the holidays provide a much-needed break for many, the decision to keep essential departments open is practical. This approach balances relaxation with the need for ongoing services, ensuring public needs are met without major disruption.

The decision has been made when three weekly holidays are being observed to reduce expenses.

The federal government formally issued a notification introducing three weekly holidays as part of a wider austerity campaign. Under the new plan, government offices will remain open only four days a week from Monday to Thursday.

According to the notification released by the Cabinet Division, government offices will stay closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The move is part of an effort to reduce official spending and manage national resources more carefully during challenging economic conditions.

The notification also includes instructions for senior government officers. Officials in Grade 20 or those earning more than Rs300,000 per month have been asked to voluntarily accept a salary deduction of two days. However, this reduction will not apply to employees working in the health and education sectors.
